Jose chameleon Records in Kenya.
Docta Eddie (Edward Omondi) of Dreamland music was the man he chose for the job. Known to produce hits, sources close to Chameleone intimated to us that he has admired the experienced and talented producer for a while now.
To overcome the logistical challenges of recording the music in Kiambu where dreamland empire is located, the studio had to be temporarily set in Chameleone’s hotel room at Southern Mayfair.
I must confess that I’m a lucky man. I got a chance to witness history in the making. One of the best musicians in Africa meeting one of the best producers in Africa was too epic. The recording began before 1 PM on Sunday, 31st May 2015 and the session continued all the way till midnight.
Chameleon couldn’t get enough from the beat doctor as evidenced by the number of tunes churned out that day. So the first track was made and they recorded. The process continued until Chameleon did three songs. A number of us who have tried our hands in music would appreciate the challenge of churning out 3 songs in one session.
There is always something divine when a talented producer does a serious beat. It’s something so brilliant and magical that cannot be explained by words.
The East African music industry must be prepared to receive what was baked at Southern Mayfair. What I can promise is that it’s going to be massive. It will definitely change the landscape of music as we know it in this region.
Docta Eddie is famed to have produced a song that won MTV’s MAMA awards (Tobina by Daddy Owen). That’s one of the biggest awards in Africa. In addition to that, he revolutionized the Kenyan music industry by being the first producer to successfully fuse Lingala and Kapuka to produce a rare genre of music called Kapungala.
He has won multiple awards as the best producer of the year.
Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here is the exclusive behind the scene image and video of the recording session:
